Tuesday, October 31st at 12:10 PM, Georgetown Township Fire Protection District was dispatch for a possible fire in a home with smoke coming out of the roof at 1801 Kepley Rd. In Georgetown, In. Lafayette Twp. Fire Protection was also dispatched for automatic mutual aid. GTFPD Engine 22 was first to arrive on the scene and found smoke coming from the structure. Neighbors on the scene advised someone did live in the home and did not know if anyone was home. Engine 22 entered the home and found heavy smoke and fire conditions inside. They did not locate anyone inside the structure. The homeowner was located and was not home when the fire started. The fire was under control approximately ten minutes after the arrival of Engine 22. There was an animal in the home that did not survive. There were no reports of any other injuries.
