Promotional Announcement

The Lafayette Township Fire Protection District proudly announces the promotions of the following members:
Firefighter/EMT to Sergeant
- Ryan B. Houchen
Ryan is a 23-year veteran of the fire service. He joined the fire service in 1995 and has been a member of Lafayette Township FD since 2004. In 2007 he was hired by the Fire District as one of the first Career Firefighter/EMT’s. In 2017 he was promoted to PIO for the District. He maintains the department website, all the social media sites, and maintains a working relationship with news outlets on top of being a Firefighter/EMT. His tireless work and efforts as a Firefighter/EMT, Engineer and PIO have proven invaluable and his contributions to the community and the department have been tremendous. His leadership, experience, and skills he provides do not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated. We look forward to his service to the people of our community and surrounding communities.
Firefighter/EMT to Captain
- Jeffery N. Miller
Jeffery is a 19-year veteran of the fire service. He joined the fire service in 1999 and has been a member of Lafayette Township FD since 2004. In 2007 he was hired by the Fire District as one of the first Career Firefighter/EMT’s. He is trained in several of the technical rescue disciplines and he has proven to be a leader with the department. We look forward to him continuing to serve the people of Floyd County and neighboring counties well in the time of need.
Captain to Assistant Chief – Special Operations & Training
- John C. Miller
John is a 19-year veteran of the fire service. He joined the fire service in 1999 and has been a member of Lafayette Township FD since 2004. In 2007 he was hired by the Fire District as one of the first Career Firefighter/EMT’s. He was promoted in January 2015 to Captain where he also filled a part-time role as Training Officer along with his duties as a Captain. He has attended numerous leadership classes and seminars. He looks to move forward with the fulltime position in training. John will fill one of the on-duty Chiefs positions. His leadership, efforts, and abilities have made a difference on many occasions. We look forward to his continued service to Floyd County and surrounding counties in the time of need.
All three of these gentlemen have been a big part of all that we do at the fire department and they all have dedicated a portion of their life to serving the community. Please join me in congratulating Ryan, Jeffery, and John on their promotions. We all wish you the best in your new assignment and know you will continue to provide the best service to our community and to the people.
