Just after midnight on Tuesday, September 25, a dispatch came out for a vehicle that crashed off the Eastbound on-ramp to I-64. Lafayette Township and Georgetown Township Fire Protection Districts responded and found a vehicle that had crashed into a group of trees near the end of the on-ramp. New Chapel EMS arrived on scene first and found the occupant trapped inside the vehicle. Extrication of the seriously injured driver by Georgetown’s Ladder 2 and Lafayette’s Rescue 1 crews was completed in approximately forty minutes. The extrication was complicated by the limbs of the trees that covered the vehicle and some that had intruded into the passenger compartment. Poor weather conditions at the time of the crash prohibited an air ambulance to land at the scene. The driver was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital by ground.
