On August 19th, 2017 at 9:39 PM Lafayette Township Fire Protection responded to 2207 Old Hill Rd to a 911 call reporting a structure fire. LTFPD Quad 11 arrived on scene and found large amounts of fire coming from the rear of the home. Quad 11’s crew was able to quickly control the fire with a two and a half inch hand line within 10 minutes of the dispatch. The fire destroyed what is thought to be a covered area behind the home. The fire spread to the interior of the home heavily damaging the kitchen and attic. Smoke and water damage were also throughout the home.
No one was home at the time the fire started except the family dog. It did not survive the fire. LTFPD does have the ability to give oxygen to pets with special masks that fit animals. It was used to try to resuscitate the dog but was not successful.
Other departments that assisted with the fire were Georgetown Township Fire Protection District, New Chapel Fire Company, Greenville Township Volunteer Fire Department, and the Salvation Army Cantine.
