On Monday, December 7th, around 7:15 PM, a box alarm was dispatched for a structure fire on West Willis Rd. in Georgetown. Calls to the Floyd county 911 dispatch center reported that fire and smoke were coming out the front windows. Georgetown Township Fire Protection District, Lafayette Township Fire Protection District, Greenville Township Fire Protection District, and New Chapel EMS responded to the fire. GTFPD first arriving units confirmed the structure was on fire and began fire suppression efforts. The fire was extinguished within about twenty minutes. Firefighters searched the residence for victims, there was no one home, but a pet was found deceased. Damage to the structure is extensive, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
