Daycare Flooded After Fire Sprinkler Head Is Damaged

Ryan Houchen    July 30, 2018    No Comments

Just before 7:30 A.M. Monday morning, Lafayette Township Fire Protection District received a call for service at 750 Highlander Point Dr. (Miracle Zone Daycare) for a sprinkler water flow alarm.  The first units to arrive on scene found that a sprinkler head on the first floor of the building had been accidentally damaged and began flowing water.  The sprinkler system was shut down but not before hundreds of gallons of water flooded the business.

Crews began sweeping what water they could from the building and cleaning up the ceiling tiles that were damaged.

No injuries occurred but left a few soggy with the large amounts of water that rained down.

The daycare had to close and parents were notified by the staff.  It is unknown when they might re-open. Staff at the daycare will keep the parents informed about this issue.

Other departments that responded to the call for service were Georgetown Township Fire Protection District, Greenville Volunteer Fire Department, New Chapel EMS and New Chapel Fire Company.
